 To Support Haiti Relief

Converge Worldwide ministries in Haiti have been impacted by the earthquake in Port-au-Prince.  Five of the pastors of churches we partner with were killed and their families left homeless.  We are actively engaged in helping meet these needs as well as many others.  This video very briefly outlines some of the things Converge Worldwide is doing.  As we partner together we can be servants of compassion for this devastated nation.

In Christ,

The opportunities to provide financial aid for Haiti earthquake relief are many.  I know some of our churches have been  receiving special offerings to help the cause.  I read that Northshore Baptist in Bothell, WA was able to raise $28000 last Sunday.

I also  know some pastors and church leaders are a little wary of just sending money without knowing if it is going to be of help on the ground.

In Converge we have several districts that have significant ministry with Haitians and ties to the churches in country.

If you want to direct your giving to targeted relief through church ministries I encourage you to consider a couple of options.

1.       Converge Northeast, 277 Main St., Suite 303, Marlborough, MA 01752
Please mark the memo line with “CNE Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund”
ALL monies received so designated will go to the Haiti Ministry Team under the leadership of Withny Pierre, CWW Director of Mission to Haiti. It will be used by Withny for specific relief needs related to the earthquake, primarily for medicine, food, and relocation costs.

2.       TheConverge World Relief team has approved three initial projects, knowing there will be many long-term needs:

·         Temporary shelter (housing) and food for the families of five pastors who perished in the quake. These men were well-known by our Haiti ministries director (and Brooklyn, N.Y. pastor) Withny Pierre. Housing will be a critical matter in Port-au-Prince since a number of houses were destroyed last week.

·         Help families relocate to their hometowns. Some are making it back to their villages and towns in the unaffected parts of Haiti at some distance from Port-au-Prince. Others have few resources to be able to extract themselves from the city.

·

Partner with a Christian clinic that is assisting victims of the quake.
Converge World relief has wired an initial $14,500 to our Haiti ministry partners to launch these projects. Additional projects will be funded as gift income provides.
In Haiti, a temporary team of Rev. Emmanuel Pierre (no relation to Withny), the general secretary of the Baptist Convention, Withny Pierre (pictured left) and 1by1 child sponsorship staff member Mireille (pictured right) will make decisions about who receives the funds and how they are applied. In the USA, the Haitian Leadership Team will review the actions of the in-Haiti team and the results of the relief ministry: Paul François, Mullery Jean Pierre, Amos Eugene, Robert Chery and Withny Pierre.

The one thing I would like you to think about at this time is sending your pastor and spouse to the upcoming [...]
